Alfalfa Leaf, Organic
Organic Alfalfa Leaf
Medicago sativa
Alfalfa is a classic nutritive herb that has long been valued in traditional herbalism as a nourishing botanical tonic. Its leafy green plant material naturally contains an array of plant constituents, including chlorophyll, saponins and naturally occurring phytoestrogens.
Alfalfa is one of those foundational herbs we appreciate for whole-body nourishment rather than for one single purpose. Health Canada recognizes its traditional use in herbal medicine as a nutritive tonic and also recognizes Alfalfa as a source of antioxidants.
Why We Keep It on Our Shelves
We keep Alfalfa on our shelves because it is a beautifully nutritive, nourishing herb with a long history of use as a traditional herbal tonic.
Its naturally occurring phytoestrogens and other plant constituents make Alfalfa an interesting and versatile botanical, while its gentle, leafy character makes it an easy addition to nutritive herbal blends.
For us, Alfalfa is about nourishment, replenishment and foundational wellness — the kind of herb that reminds us that sometimes herbalism isn't about targeting one symptom, but about giving the body nutritional support from plants.
Traditional Uses
Alfalfa has traditionally been used for:
- Nutritive and general wellness support
- Herbal nourishment
- Supporting overall vitality
- Providing naturally occurring plant antioxidants
- Nutritive herbal tea blends
- General tonic support
